The culinary use of flowers is nothing new and dates back thousands of years to the Chinese, Greek and Romans. Many cultures use flowers in their traditional cooking, think of squash blossoms in Italian food and rose petals in Indian food. Adding flowers to your food is a wonderful way to add color, flavor and whimsy. Some edible flowers are spicy, and some herbaceous, while others are floral and fragrant.
We'll take you through the history of edible flowers, provide gardening tips and you'll learn to prepare an edible flower meal. Guiding you through the workshop is Gina Hemmings, Mossflower founder, and Carly Silberman, pastry + personal chef.
